Hi, Just been to give a quote for a floor in a kitchen and two utility rooms.
Problem is, this guy has a cushion floor all the way through and has tried pulling it up but it is absolutely welded to the floor, I had a go myself, its a nightmare.
This guy then said his sister in law has had her floor tiled straight over the same type flooring.
I didn't think you could go over a cushion floor and told the customer this, but said I would look into it...!
Can anyone shed any light on this sort of thing.,,?

Simple answer is NO!.......Use a heat gun to soften the adhesive up and it will come away no probs....
The cushion floor will break down in time and then so will your floor...

Cheers guys, just as I thought, you cant go over this type of floor.
Good tips though fellas regarding pulling up the cusion floor, thanks....!

Find out what is below the cushion floor first by pulling up a test piece in each room - may be a chance the the floor will need over-boarding anyway if hardboard, floorboards or chipboard - save yourself a job and over-board straight on top.

If there is enough allowance for height you may be able to over-board it anyway if the cushion floor is too difficult to get up.
