customer wants to ply over piped ufh

I'll just run this by you guys. Went to look at a job last week and customer has had piped ufh installed and screeded over, but only just over, you can see the top of the ufh through the screed. Embedded within the concrete screed are whate appears to be 2"x2" wooden "joists" to fix plywood,9mm:yikes: to. What would you guys do,
remove the wood and fill with concrete and slc (poss 2 part) over?
or maybe a ditra type uncoupling membrane over it all and tile as normal?

I wouldn't use ply. I think the SLC would be the best thing and would also say 2 part is best

was thinking slc instead of decoupling Dave,just to get a bit of coverage over the pipes, the floors did look ok as they had loads of wood to screed off

I know very little about Ditra or uncoupling membranes. So wanted to suggest what I knew would be ok

The wood and screed will move differently, without the membrain will crack the tiles IMO

I think he is planning to remove the wood if he uses SLC. At least that's what I was thinking

Fair comment Matt, just reread the thread and your right about the wood, If I removed the wood and filled with screed which will shrink back, then slc on the thin side, then decoupling

you've said what I'd thought Mark,I've also got to tell this customer that his plastered walls won't support 12mm trav:mad2::mad2:

Whitebeam has the right suggestion IMO.
Ditra will get rid of any worries of future movement, cracked tiles or grout.
Any fragile stone or in areas where we have the slightest worry over such things we always use Ditra.
Excellent product.

I like to use ditra on all my floor installations with stone if possible..especially stone like travertine/limestone /marbles etc....
