cutting question

Hi all,
i need to cut a square 10cm x 10cm on a wall tile and only have 1 left so can't afford to break it .The hole is for a shower box cable to be fed through.
Please can any one advise me on the quickest way to do this whilst the tile is not fixed on the wall

What size is the tile to be cut?

What type of tile is it?

Where on the tile is the cut-out?

Hi Mick,
Sorry to be so vague. It's a ceramic til from B&Q approx size is 8" x 6" .
This tile is going to be mostly covered by an old shower unit being fitted over it so i would need a hole in the middle of it no more than say 3 " in size, so as to allow the cable in the wall to be reconnected to the shower contol box. It doesn't have to be a tidy cut as most of it will be covered up by the shower unit.

place the tile to the left of the cable and mark it with a pencil
place the tile to the underside of the cable and mark it

join the pencil marks to create a cross

use a masonry drill without the hammer action and drill a series of holes to roughly the size you need

gently tap out the insert you hae just drilled

use a tile file to smooth over

voila
