Just noticed that the compas is a waterjet compas you buy on a net backing and treat like a big floppy tile, don't think he actually cut those cuts, there are a couple of really skinny ones there I wouldn't have liked to cut even with a waterjet.

Was that a grout gun in one of the photos? Are they any good?

Could be just a silicone gun, if it is a grout gun it would be fairly job specific and not used on all jobs. You wouldn't use one for usual grouting.
