demister pad behind inset miror..........

I regularly fit inset mirrors, building up wall with hardibacker and using glazing adhesive/Silicon, but usually in cloakrooms. I need to fit 2 in a wet-room/ensuite and think a demister pad would be good in this situation. My question is, how good a grip can i get with the demister pad between the mirror back and the hardibacker?
Does anyone have experience of this?

haven't bought the pads yet but imagine they will be 30/35% of the mirror size

I don't have any direct experience of this sort of thing, but would say that 70% of the mirror attached to the wall is ample. Or recess the pad so hat you can fit the mirror flush.
