Not sure how everyone else does this but this is the way I do em.

1. Cut out for drain and lay the rest of the tray tiles.

2. Lay masking tape from the corners, mark out and number cuts with a wax crayon.

3. Cut tiles with wet saw to create a gap and polish the cut edges ( now using new polishing toy from " ats diamond")

4. Fit jigsaw to tray former. (Grouting tomorrow )

So when you have dry laid the standard cuts.... Do you just use a straight edge from corner to corner to mark out your 'fall cuts' if thats what theyre called lol

And any special grout used when doing this sort of tray? Cheers

yes, just lay the tiles in exactly and mark with a straight edge. I use bal superflex grout and HG grout sealer on the tray area. I have looked into using mapei drop effect grout, but not tried it yet. Best option is epoxy, but I have only ever seen it used and not tried it myself. I think I could make a pigs ear of it quite easily .

i usually latex to the start of the fall in the tray former. DSCN0367.jpg
Lay the floor tiles around the tray first,
This gives me the angles of the tray to follow,
as I now have my set points for all my cuts. DSCN0380.jpg IMG_7991.jpg IMG_7990.jpg with impey dont forget to take into account the 50mm outer edge of the tray.

Liking that alot.

Haven't you finished it yet Paul (Chalker) !!!

(Her in doors must be very patient!)

Only started 10 days ago! Have been fitting it in with other commitments, so lots of late nights and two weekends.
Nearly finished, just needs a mirror and blind.
Used for the first time lat night. ( sorry for the blurry pic)

Loved using the PCS boards and will have to get a price from you for a good order.
The two other bathrooms I'm on with at the moment both have Aquq4ma trays and room forming system.

Brilliant work and great advice - thanks.

Just about to start tiling my wetroom - first time for this rookie tiler, so your advice is VERY useful:thumbsup:

One question - is there a trick to locating the drain in the centre of a tile?

My former is Jacoboard 1500 x 800 with an offset drain - so approx about the same place as yours. I'd like to locate the drain in the middle of a tile (300 x 300 tiles) but doubt my ability to accurately measure and cut

Also is it best to use sealant between the wall tiles and base tiles or grout?

Any help/advice gratefully received.

Devon Rookie :sofahide:
