diamond pattern...

...whats your method when tiling diamond pattern with large format heavy tiles on a wall? Must admit, done diamond pattern loads of times, even large format but never large format on to walls with no batten:yikes:. Thinking just cutt in 2 tiles on bottom then build out in diamond, whats the best method?

I started a bathroom last week with the shower area in 45 degrees, I set the sigma up at 45 and cut the required tiles to start and used a batten to hold the bottom row.

I cant understand how you can use a batten when tiling 45 degrees as none of the grouot lines are horizontal? Do you tile the bottom row with triangle gaps, then remove the batten then do the bottom row?

as i said it was only a shower area (2 walls) i had the batten at the bottom corner at 45 degrees then after the first row set i took the batten away and worked down (at 45 degrees of course)

Piggin diagonal on the wall, yuk! My method is to tell the customer it will date, they soon go off the idea. Works everytime!!
