diamond pattern

ok.to be totally honest,iv never done a diamond pattern on wall or floor.yes,i would like to but as yet not been asked but thers always the 1st time and yes il be nervy but if you pros ot ther can give me some advice on the set out,etc it would be much appreciated.i mean,do you still use datum line,guage stick,etc etc etc..oh and how about random floor tiling-is it easier than it looks?:huh2:

Never been asked myself yet, can't see there any problems though, as long as you give it some thought before you go lashing them down!

Random tiling? Let the custom set them out in a spare room or the lawn, if you do it and they don't like it!!!!! Below is a link to a program which does random pattens, type in No of tiles and No of colours etc. Used it once and customer was impressed. Only thing was, it wouldn't run on my computor because of high security on my pc but it ran OK on customers pc.

the set out is the same as your coventional pattern, find the center of the wall etc. just flip the tile over and go from corner to corner of the tile instead of in the middle of the tile.
in the corners all the walls should meet with the cut tile, so for example if you open up the wall as if it was one the whole area would look like one and not miss-shaped.
if your doing a kitchen splashback, center the main focal point windo or extractor and follow the other walls off that wall, centering every wall wont work as the corners wont meet.
