Different types of 10mm trowels?

Hello all,

Ive been on ebay yesterday looking for a round notched 10mm trowel.

Ive seen 2 examples, one by rubi which states its 10mm but they look like long fat notches, so not many across the length of the trowel, where as another trowel says its 10mm but has lots of notches across the length of the trowel.....

so whats the difference between the amount of notches across the length of the trowel,.?

The Ruby one is a 20mm diameter round notch on a 10mm spacing between notches and is the type I use for floors. The other one is probably a 10mm diameter notch with a 5mm spacing and is probably for walls if I'm not mistaken. You need the big one for floors!!

As grumpy says, they all give a different coverage of adhesive, the idea being that you get 100% contact between floor tiles and the substrate. I use the large half moon trowel and back butter the tiles and it seems to give a good coverage. Have a look at the link below for a little bit more info
