yes without fail most use you to finance their work from your cashflow I am really thinking about my future in the business at the the moment as I am fed up the stress I am seriously considering upping my prices by 100% as what I am charging now isnt worth the hassle

I've had both variations as a subby, some customers and builders have been sound but on the other hand there are just some out there who are cretins and even refused to stop working for some of them.

I don't know of any other job where you seem be out on limb trying to get your money.

This is so true! I keep saying I won't make that mistake again, but it's so easy to just slip back into it without realising!?! In all honesty, I hate working for other contractors. At least double the stress. And nobody even wants to work to MY standards (I know you'll find that hard to believe lol!)...

Well over the years i have lost thousands of pounds to assholes !, i am a labour-only contractor to the pool industry ! and the latest a-hole say as he ran-out of tiles (1m2 short ) that is my fault so has counter charged me £400 !!!!!!! how does that work ????, when i think about-it when i work directly to customers the jobs go great ! but ALL OF THE HASSLE has come from main-contractors ..... to me that says it all......

No from me. I've known the guy I regularly contract to since '04 . In that time he has never short changed me - quite the opposite in fact- and I cant recall ever waiting longer than week for payment after I've submitted an invoice.
Genuinely top bloke to work for.

I do a bit of both the one company I sub for asks me how much per job and pays me straight away the other company pays me end of week and is like one of the boys and I don't feel ripped off but I used to work for Taylor tiles I and won't comment about them !!!!!!!!!
