Do you let the customer buy the adhesive and grout?

I mostly supply the adhesive, grout, sealer etc . I have started buying in bulk so its in my best interest to sell my own.

Even if they have bought the B&Q stuff etc... i will advise them i would prefer to use my own products, almost all the time they are happy with that and just take the adhesive etc back to the shop for a refund.

At least that way i will guarantee the work, they save some money and i make a bit more profit for just supplying the products, win win all round.

Always supply myself unless the customer ask's and I tell them what to get. A few times I've turned up to price a job and they tell me they've allready got the one bucket does all fix and grout. I tell them straight away I wont use it, so they just as well take it back.

I have always given an all in price for fixing for the last 27 years inc sundry materials so never had the problem

Nothing worse than arriving on a job to find out there's been crappy/unsuitable adhesive left. I don't use battons when tiling walls so I'd be quite fussy about only using adhesive with a good initial grab. Only two brands which I'd trust for that, which thankfully both are supplied by my local tile showroom. If a customer insists on getting the adhesive then I will specify what brand - the ironic thing is that with them trying to stop me 'ripping them off' with adhesive, they'll probably end up paying more for the same bag than I'd have charged for it. :mad2:
