There's a plaster board that apparently you can tile straight on to without skimming and the rest of the faffy prep work, does anybody know what it's called + price of it please

it's called.....plasterboard!! (12.5mm) no need to skim plasterboard at all!

Normal plasterboard can be tiled to, without the faffy prep work, and of course, the faffy prep work by skimming will knock down the weight limits

Use the scrim which plasterers use, it won't do any harm to go over the joints

I always taped the joint and filled with addy. Have to say I've never seen or heard of a vertical crack in wall tiling over new plasterboard though.

I always scrim the joints with self adhesive scrim tape. In my head it stops the boards from shrinking away from the addy and causing a delamination - of course my head is full of all sorts of stuff.....not all of it right I guess
