Firstly, I've never worked with these particular mosaics, but to give some advice on mosaic fixing is as follows; I've never come across a mosaic sheet that is perfect an hasn't needed some 'adjustments' so from an advice point of view I would always say, lay it out dry on the floor/worksurface and get all the imperfections out before you fit them. If you try to do it when the tiles are on the wall you will get in a mess. Most mosaics need a few cuts in the mesh to get them flush/even joints/flow from sheet to sheet, do all this before you fit, it's a million times easier.

how comes you have to pre gout paper faced mosaic?
there are a few reasons why paper faced mosaic is pregrouted first one is it prevents the adhesive grinning through ,2 is it softens the gum glue down on the paper face allowing it to be removed easier without disturbing the tiles ,3rd is it stops the mosaic tiles from slipping and firms up quicker than the adhesive behind the tile 4,you get a fuller flusher grout joint and a more solid finished job

to be honest i have not pre grouted paper faced mosaic for years the last time i did i was in my teens.

I must admit although it was common fixing practice to pre grout paper faced mosaics, I have not come accross it in years. Did plenty of it in my time though:thumbsup: We used Snowcrete back then, who remembers that then? ( showing my age again):yikes::oops:

some mosaic from fired earth arent entirely square either so make sure you lay each sheet with the same orientation just in case or you will start to have jumping joints, havent used paper faced in years, although if they have a sticky plastic face, make sure you have proper coverage to all the edges and use a damn good adhesive which has had apt time to dry, as its worse than fly paper to remove :yikes: ( pulling down on the sheet close to the mosaic helps rather than away from it ) Do you think these style of mosaics should be pre-grouted??
