There should be no need to prime any blocks, if there dusty dampen the wall area with water where your dabs of adhesive are going....don't use pva if you decide to prime..
coming from a plasterer thats weird whitebeam, ive always primed internal blockwork(if its old and dusty).
everything whats said on this forum about priming ect ect before tiling, surely the weight of plasterboard on dusty blockwork would be a issue, just saying, not bitching mate

I did the Dri Walling course at Brittish Gypsum and was taught only to wet/dampen dusty and high suction areas that were about to sheeted using the dot n dab method with Dri Wall adhesive.....

know what you are saying, but i did a 4 1/2 year apprenticeship trained by very experienced plasterers(with probably over 300y experience between them) ,always got told to prime dusty walls with PVA,internally and use exterior PVA on exterior rendering, each to his own i suppose
(oh,and pva in the eighties was the plasterers dream, and i gotta be honest, never have i had a fall of in nearly 30 years of using it for plastering, even when ive used it for tiling,in the early years, never had a fall off,i would not use it for tiling now, knowing what i know)
