Hi,

I have attached a picture of my layout and I just have a few questions about proper tile layout.

THINGS TO NOTE:
Wall tiles: 200mm X 200mm Gloss White
Tile Spaces: 1.5mm
Picture of Kitchen:

Ok, well i'm not sure where you are generally meant to start tiling but since the window is the center objective of the kitchen wall I guess i should start tiling from there outwards.

- So if I start from the center of the window lining up with the window ledge i should have 4 Full tiles on the ledge and then 65mm tile on either side (minus gaps for spacers) . Oh, this is how i measure up, i wont actually start with the window ledge.

So my questions:

- My first problem, is the gap between the benchtop and window ledge. I have to cut a tile but how big should this be? Does the smaller bit go on the bottom on the benchtop or the top to the window ledge.
- How does this work out for the part underneath the cabinets. Will is look silly to have a half tile on the bottom and top of the layout, and also on the other side of the window where it will be exposed.

Any suggestions welcome.

Hi and welcome along. I'd run a level across the work top to see how flat it is. If it's withing a couple of mm then I'd start with a full tile off that using spacers or wedges under the tiles to ensure they run level. You're right to centre the window as this is the main feature of the wall, just check it doesn't leave you with a thin slither at either end of the the work top. If this is the case you could centre the window putting the middle of a tile on the centre line. This will give you a narrower cut up each side of the window but if it eliminates a slither then IMO it would be better.
