Don't file. A good manual cutter (like a Rubi :hurray:) will give a clean edge anyway (with most tiles). But I prefer to keep the break as natural as possible, gap no more than 1mm and using a good quality grout. If you have to cut natural stone it will have to have a gap at least the width of the electric cutting blade (usually at least 2mm). Again well laid and grouted will look excellent with no additional finishing.
