Explaining Wasteage to customers

I having a real problem with one customer that doesnt seem to undersatand the concept of wasteage. Does anyone have any tips. She has 600 x 300 tiles and wants half bond and cant get her head around the fact im going to have to cut some of her tiles.

Tell her that tiles are very rigid and don't like being bent around corners!

dry lay some, if you have them already, and show her where cuts will be.

iv had two jobs recently where they have got there own tiles and only got the exact amount, i told both they would be lucky if i could finish as breakage can happen in cutting.

We all know how it works most people have not a clue as to how to measure a room that is why they leave it to us, so all you do is say to the customer you need 22 sq metres and not go into any detail when you have measured the room at 20.

had a customer this week whom is selling up due to divorce,anyway told him to go and see reaper72 at his shop and that he would give him a good price which after speaking to reaper72 he did.I got to the job and there were 6 boxes of b&q tiles which when i opened 6or 7 in every box were broke,phoned customer and he said he got them for 3quid a box and could i use the other tiles in his kitchen,looked at these and they were pocelain so told him i would need more money for The materials and the extra work of mixing adhesive he was not chuffed but fork him as he made my day pure s h i t trying to cut broken tiles etc,etc.he SHOULD HAVE GOT THEM FROM REAPER AS HE WOULD HAVE HAD ALL THE SAME TILES AT A DISCOUNT PRICE BUT TRYING TO CUT TOOOOOOO MANY CORNERS JUST ISNT ON THE PLAYING FIELD LADS IS IT?:mad2: :lol:
