walls in a bathroom are patchy after they have removed old tiles so the customer is getting the patches filled and has put a sheet of plasterboard on one wall.
Do i need a primer!
How long do i need to wait for the filling and skimming to dry!
Can i tile straight on to Plasterboard!!
I intend to use Bal Blue Star Ready Mix.

Plasterboard can be tiled straight on to. As for the filling, I have no experience of this yet but I would imagine it depends "how big" the filled areas are in relation to the tile size. If a whole wall has been skimmed it takes, i believe 24hrs per mm of plaster thicknes to dry out i.e. 10mm will need 10days! If they are only say 50mm2 areas and a 150mm tile then there would be plenty of solid base to attach tiles to so you may get away with out.

Forget Blue Star in a bathroom, White Star is the way to go. DH will always advise priming, but WHite Star is self priming anyway on plasterboard.

hi Alastair... The drying time depends what type of filler was used..try to get customer to use a rapid drying one coat type or similar....blue star is ok for bathrooms but if there is a shower area then white star would be better...personally i would use white star through out in any bathroom any way....prime out the walls with balbond sbr ratio 4 parts water to 1 part sbr...plasterboard aswell as this will slow down the absorption rate of the substrate so that it doesnt suck the moisture out of the adhesive too quick........dave..

Good luck mate.....:)
