Fixing external tiles to rendered wall

Hi, would anyone be able to advise me on fitting exterior tiles. They are ledge stone split face mosaic tiles. I am going to fit them to an outside wall which is brick and currently rendered and painted with stone paint. Do I need to hack off the render and fix to the brick after sealing them or can I fix directly onto the painted render? Also which type of adhesive should I use? Many thanks. Gerry

If the render is solid and flat, removing it will be overkill.

Removing the paint would be necessary so the adhesive has something solid to key into.

Something like a wire cup brush in a grinder would solve that problem.

As above if the renders good then there's a good chance hacking it off may damage the brickwork...

Yes more millionaires per square mile in Harrogate/Leeds than the rest of the country - used to be before property booms now everyone's a millionaire!

Thanks for the advice and the Mickey taking. its only a small feature wall and not the poxy cladding you see on some houses. Back to the advice part---- What would the best adhesive be? Would it be a cement based type?

yes Gerry, make sure it's flexible, personally I'd go for a S2 type adhesive.
