Fixing Marmox to Wall

Hi All

On my bathroom wall that has the door on it would it be ok to secure the marmox boards with screws only, at 300mm centres and not apply adhesive as I want to minimise the depth added to this wall so as to not come proud of the door architrave? The walls have been replastered in bonding (which I now know was not good idea hence the marmox boards!) so are very level, have put a large spirit across them and they are pretty much bang on with no indents?

i would say no because once you get the weight of the tile on the wall the down force may be too much for the screws if the walls are bang on you will onl be adding a coupe of mm in depth with adhesive dont forget the washers

if its bonding, i don't know how good any adhesive would be,other than to pad out any defects, how heavy/what tiles you are using

Thanks for info guys, the tiles are glazed ceramic measuring 25cm x 38cm x 6mm so not too heavy I guess - whats your thoughts - would it need the adhesive as well as the screws?

Get the walls skimmed, save the money of the boards, those tiles will be ok, well within the weights for a plastered wall.

Are you using the Marmox boards for their waterproofing properties or weight carrying capacity?

On this wall purely weight carrying as bath and shower are on opposite side of bathroom - already have the boards so would rather fit them than have skimmed as i can fit them myself but cant skim! thanks

So what tolerance have you got for adhesive ?

Is it not possible to remove and re-fit the door archi ?? Then no matter how you prep your wall you don't have to worry about the odd mm or 2 thickness

As Alan said skim the walls put the boards on eBay and the money you get hire a plasterer
