Fixing Metro tiles advice.

Hello anyone out there got any tips on fixing metro tiles? I've tiled the standard way before but not with stretcher bond. I'm a bit worried about staggering joints, is this a problem? Noticeable? Also, setting out around a window I think Its best to start here first, i'm doing this for a friend so needs to be my best so to speak. Thanks in advance.

the best thing to do "generally" is to go centre of cooker and hood, then work outwards. At corners you should "wrap" tiles round like this:



windows should be centred "generally" and sometimes small cuts can not be avoided, but the wrap around effect and the centered main focal points will leave the best look for the job!

just remember to tke your time setting out and it will take longer to tile

Thanks, that looks great. I have a few more points. The cooker has already got a granite splash back and the work tops are granite so I can't centre to the hood/cooker. To the right of the window the tiles will continue to the corner of the wall. This means that I will have to set out from the right hand side with a level line/batten and then gauge the tile distances with a gauge rod (tile and joints marked on) so I hit the right point at the window. Does this make sense? If I work out from the window I will then have to work up from the floor and hope they meet!! So I 'm guessing Its the floor up and then across to the window. Secondly, I have to remove tiles from a plaster board wall any tips I think i'm going to have to patch it up a little after they come off. Also should I treat this with anything once i'm ready to tile? Sorry for the lengthly question tanks in advance.
