Fixing plywood overlay

Anyone have any experience/views on fixing 4/6mm plywoood overlay prior to tiling where levels have needed to be built up. I have been screwing down to original timber floors but have a couple of big jobs coming up and have thought about possibly stapling as an option. Just wondering if anyone out there has any experience of using this method and if they found it sucessful or not. Cheers :smilewinkgrin:

Stapling 4/6mm ply to timber? The ply is too thin anyway and stapling it is not recommended at all.

I walked off a job 'cos the kitchen fitting outfit had stapled it, why not use a self levvelling compund and hardibacker 250 board mate?

Forget Staples and 4-6mm ply
Do the job properly or not at all - 18mm wbp ply, screwed down using either drywall type B torqued so the heads are not proud, at not more than 250mm / 300mm centres and use the correct adhesive.

Sorry just to clear things up, ply is to build up an already sound floor around an aqua dec wet room tray, uncoupling mat is going on top of ply. Just been looking for a quicker, easier way to fix ply to original floor, i guess stapling is not the way forward???
