Fixing shower screen

What are the best wall plugs to use for fixing a shower door to tiles over a bath? My tiles are mounted on plasterboard and I am not sure if there are any noggins behind the board.

Mark your plugs should go deeper than the tiles or they crack when the plugs expand. You should always put something behind plasterboard if you are going screw anything to it.

If you have a solid wall behind the plater board then use a long 6mm drill bit to get into that, use a 6mm drill bit and then a long screw to knock the plug right through to the wall and screw into it. If it's a stud wall or you can't reach the solid wall then use the spring toggles.

You should always allow in the planning stage where heavy fittings will be used extra studs etc....

I normally just Silicon the profile to the wall, no mechanical fixings. My Daryl ( very heavy thick glass) shower screen has been up for over 12 years now fitted this way.
Stick the profile up and the screen the next day.

Always good thick ply between studs but toggles if too late for that.

I never use anything less than a brown plug and 3' screws in solid walls. The fixing that come with shower enclosures can make you laugh at times

And would it hold if the average sized adult was to fall against it. I doubt it very much. Takes me all of 5 mins to line up, mark, drill & plug 4 or 5 holes (unless it's porcelain of course!)

I find it absurd that someone would rely purely on Silicon to hold up 45Kg of glass. Whats tge weight of an average adult these days 80-90Kg?

No I haven't. I will take all the screws out of mine tonight and throw myself at it and let you know how I get on :lol:
