Gaps in wet room floor

Great forum, I really hope someone can help me. Firstly I live in the channel islands, so don't have a great selection of tilers to choose from. I have had 3 quotes, the first one refused to do it, the second one quoted £2,500 and the third one £800 but wasn't sure how to deal with the problem.
Bit of background (I will post pictures later). I bought a house that had a bathroom, and a separate room next to it which had a toilet. The bathroom is just over 6f by 6f, the toilet 5 f by 2f. one side of the bathroom/toilet is an outside wall. I decided to turn the toilet into the wet room, knock a wall between the bathroom and toilet (they were not connected, you had to enter both from the hallway as 2 separate doors). I should point out that I have had so many workmen in its not funny, most of them never bother to turn up again (joys of living in CI, they all came recommended). The wall for the toilet into the wall had to come down, as the door had to be blocked off.. Anyway, hope this makes sense!

The problem is this... the floorboards came up, marine ply was fitted in between the joists, so the drucker board (i think that is what it is called) could fit on top... there are over 20 washers to stop the thing from moving. Anyway, the new wall went up (this new wall has the plumbing for the shower, which is on that wall). That wall has been totally marmox boarded.The problem is that where the wall meets the floor, there is still some wood from the hallway floorboards.. we are talking about 10 mm at the most.
First tiler refused to do it as he said drucker board should only be installed onto concrete and the tiles will move, second tiler was very concerned about wood, thrid tiler said silicon the whole lot (he also mentioned some paste you can put down, but he couldn't remember the name). ANy ideas?

Also, I have spoken to quite a few plumbers/tilers about wether I need to wedi board every wall of the wet room. it is pretty much 50-50.. Any recommendations?

You really do need to post some pictures of this work and the problem area.

Hello and welcome, any seams/joints etc need to be covered with the joint/waterproofing tape, this will then prevent any leaks.. any fixings you have made like screws/washers need to have at least a 50mm tape overlap..

Theres no tape or tanking! :yikes::yikes::yikes: Thats not a wet room thats a disater waiting to happen. The joins should all be taped but theboards should be better fitted than that IMO

That back wall looke like plasterboard and has no tanking applied and is that left hand wall painted? If so the paint needs removing or your tiles will only be stuck to the paint.

The whole things should be water tight especially around the joins from wall to floor. Any movement here and the waterproofing will stop any damage. You dont have any of that, the boarding on the floor is a total waste of money without it

Sorry I am not sure what that means..
right, I see that tanking is the plastic stuff that tiler number 3 was talking about, I can certainly get that. I have some plastic tape (which is on the marmox board on the left) so can put down over everywhere...
As for the blue paint on the left, this was painted directly on the wall, on top of that I had yellow paint, and on top of that I had woodchip. I spent hours getting the woodchip wallpaper and then yellow paint off, but that blue paint is moving for noone.. any ideas?

Wire brush on the paint, or a wire brush attatchement in an electric drill.

There are already tiles fixed to the wall' how do you propose tanking behind these?

Those tiles are all on marmox board, the wedi washers on those have been siliconed, and there is tape around those (that was plumber number 1 did that, plumber number 2 did the rest). Noone has never mentioned this tanking stuff until today!

yes, there is a slope to the drain, I bought wetroom kit and it slopes down to the drain.
I should point out that I don't intend to do the job myself, but when I have a tiler round I know what I am talking about, and I can ask for the work to be done correctly..
as for tanking the wet room, do you tank all the floor and walls, or just the edges?

Floor and all junctions with the wall. Tanking should also be taken up the wall from the floor.

Some systems only need the junctions and joins done but I'm not familiar with the system your using, so I'd say do the lot!

WOW.
Those screw heads are supposed to be polyurethaned and not siliconed.
The joints need to be taped and polyurethaned as well.
There needs to be a slope to the drain (1/4 inch drop per 2 feet is minimum)
And you can't have a painted wall in a shower.

I have gone to, and had come round, at least 3 plumbers, 5 tilers, 3 carpenters, 1 electician (who also tiles in his spare time), 2 specialist tiling shops, and not one said any of this.. To say I am frustrated is un understatement, that bathroom has caused me nothing but problem.. The shower is not even a power shower... Anyway, please don't tell me I need to take down the shower/the tiles/the marmox board and everything else just because they have been siliconed instead of the other stuff (I should point out the silicon was sold by the shop that sold all the wet room stuff, inc tiles and washers)?

If I wedi/marmox board that painted wall would that help? that paint is really not moving, I have steamed it and scraped it, I am not even 100% sure it is normal paint.

Maybe it wasn't silicone then?
I would check as it is supposed to be polyurethane sealant.
Maybe the guys there would know as I have never worked with marmox, only wedi board and their sealant is polyurethane.
Silicone might work, but I would be checking with the manufacturer.
