Hi all, im new to the forum Arms.

Lately been getting knocked back on my quotes, last 3 to be exact. Bit disapointed on the last one as i feel i did quote low to Get the work. It was a shower cubicle,6m2, it was alraedy tiled and damp damage. the client was aware of this and explained do what is needed to sort it. I inturn explained to him the tiles need removed, the plaster board removed and replaced with backer board, joints tanked, the shower tray and cubicle refitted. I quoted 120 for the tiling and 120 for the prep and repair, 240 total, he was happy as lowry, but later informed me he got a better quote. is my quote to high

the guy came back to me, done the job and got 260 for it, also be back in january sometime to do his other bathroom. Both rooms were done by same tiler 2 years ago. I was able to pull the tiles of the shower cubicle walls with my hands. Showed him the state of the plaster, it just crumbled. I think another 6 months it would have all fallen down. wish i had my camera with me. Will have it for the bathroom.

Sometime if you are too cheap the customer wont go with you as they know you couldn't do it for the price. When you do an estimate itemise what you are going to do, take it round to the customer and go through it and explain why and what you are doing, the amount of jobs i have won doing this and sometimes im loads more expensive, but because i have put the time in with the customer and the feel they can trust me i get the job.

That's great to hear you got the job in the end.

The other tiler may have run scared or the client may have realised that he couldn't possibly get the job done to your spec cheaper.

I would have probably quoted £260 labour, £260 all in sounds cheap to me, especially for refitting an old cubicle, all that Silicon etc.
