Glass splashback ontop of tiles?

OK, so further to my last thread about large format tiles on a kitchen splashback, the other half got her way (shock). She has came home with 500mm x 500mm porcelain today. The problem I see with this is that the cooker and distance between the cabinets is 600mm wide. This means if I center the tile there will be a 50mm tile cut up either side against the cabinet up to the extractor fan. The alternative would be a grout line in the center of the cooker. Im unsure if either of these will look aesthetically pleasing.
My solution is possibly to go with the central grout line (I think this will look better of the 2 options) and then possibly attach a glass splashback on top of the tile at a later date if I am not happy with the look. Has anyone done this? The splashbacks are self adhesive and the tiles are polished porcelain (ie no texture). Just after opinions and experience if possible. Cheers

hi nick,the nest option is yes centre the grout line but i think i would prefer w whole tile also

not sure about sticking glass splashy on top at end tbh

cant you get the same tile she has chose in a 600mm one? from another shop maybe?

No cant find them in 600. Went out this afty with her and tried everywhere, those are the only ones we can agree on unfortunately.

I've just found some splashbacks on this website ( Glass Splashbacks ) and it says they can be attached to any non-porous surface, not sure if that helps you.

They are self adhesive yes, but also for best results should use some Silicon as well as the sllf adhesive backing, fitted loads of em, can be stuck on top of tiles

Another idea would be to center the tile............then add a contrasting border (Travertine??) around the edge. Don't have to take it right down to the worktop??

If not...........just have the grout line centered.

If you do decide to put a splash back over the tiles at a later date, just check with the manufacturer that its OK.
