Hi,

In my brief tiling career to date I've not installed this type of tile before and I'd like to ask a couple of questions:
1. Cutting - I have a Clinker for dry cuts and at the moment a Plasplugs wet cutter, will these be suitable for cutting this type of tile (it's 9mm thick floor tile)? Do I need to put a porcelain wheel on the wet cutter?
2. They will be tiled into 18mm chipboard flooring (Which is supported off a concrete floor on c50mm thick wood at centres of approx 200mm), is a standard flexi adhesive and grout suitable or do I need to go for a specialist porcelain adhesive?

Thanks in advance for your help/advice

I do find your questions worrying as a practicing tiler as these questions apply to all tile types and not just porcelain to a timber substrate..

A couple answers are :

The clinker should be ok , depending on the grade of hardness of the tile..

Most continuous rimmed wet wheels will cut hard tiles , they just don't cut as fast as say a turbo type wheel.. but saying that some continuous rimmed do give a very neat cut.

The substrate , how do you normally prep a timber substrate.. ?

Adhesive..?... a modified adhesive will bond to porcelain but with your substrate , you will need to up the spec to say a C2FT-S1 minimum or even an S2.. this can depend on individual issues the substrate might have..
