In the bathroom I am boxing in plumbing pipes with wood and I need to lay wood piece over the pipes and so affix a ledge to the ceramic wall tiles for the wood piece to lay on.
Can I glue a ledge to ceramic wall tile and what sort of glue would do the job ? (as it is it would be very difficult to drill holes in the tiles to fix a ledge with pipes in the way)

hi Morphboy, you could box the pipes in with plywood and then overboard with either plasterboard or hardiebacker board, and then just use your normal tile adhesive to tile with:thumbsup:

I may be wrong Doug but I think he was asking how he could affix the top horizontal part of his boxwork to the tiled walls to make it secure...

Morphboy, I know you said drilling would be tricky with pipes in the way, but you could fix a batten to the wall couldn't you as the holes to be drilled would be above the pipework? Then just sit your plywood top on that and fix with screws.

You may need a drill suitable for the job, so take a look at 365 drills. Not sure if glue would give you the stability you're after
