Untill recently I had never tried Green star. I had small tiling job in a downstairs WC so decided to give green start a try. I tiled a wall with Mapei's basic d1 (Mapestik) and aonther wall with BAL basic d1 (green star)
I was working with cheap 20 x 40 ceramics (very light) approx 6mm thick.
I felt that Mapestik was the better product. Although a heaveir/ thicker mix I found that there was a little sliping with the greenstar, this did not happen with the Mapestik.
I didnt use any battons for this job as they were light ceramics and I thought both adhesives would be up to the job but I had to support some of the tiles fixed with green star by hammering a nail under some of the tiles.
when using ready mixed I do prefer the red lid Mapegrip but I use Mapestik from time to time when permitted due to the cost savings.
Anyone else used both products and have a prefference? spoken to lots of guys who swear by green star so was a little dissapointed. A few said they would rather use green star than any Mapei tubbed stuff.
would liked to have done a poll but dont know how to do it
