Grout problem. Advice needed please

Good afternoon.

Just been to look at a job and it appears that there is a problem that has occurred in the shower area

the customer had the bathroom re done about 6 months ago using 600 x 300 a light coloured gres porcellanato tile on the walls. In the shower cubicle there's been problem with certain grouts lines turning a reddish colour when the shower has been used which then runs down the grout lines and onto the tile. The colour of the grout used is a beige/very light grey colour.

I'll try and upload some photos but can anyone advise me on what may be causing this problem.

Shower gels are the usual culprit.

Would that be due to the grout that was used that its staining. Also some of the other grout lines are already starting to crumble. I've said that re grouting is the way forward. What grout would you recommend to stop the staining occurring.

were the tiles fixed to ply?

The grout lines that are discoloured where are they exactly? Below the shower valve perhaps?

Hello. The tiles are fixed to plaster. The worse of the Staines are below the taps but there are stains on the other wall of the shower.

Re grout with epoxy grout but check valves for leakage.

Thanks for your replies. Also are there Any tips on removing grout without damaging the tiles or is it a case of a steady hand. I'll be using the Fein master tool. Mr T I'll mention that to her might save her a bit lol..
