Hi! I had a ceramic tile installed in my kitchen, floyer, powder room and 2 bathrooms.
Can you tell me if the grouting should be smooth and even? (The grouting has bumps on it and some of it is higher in places.)
Also when I look close I see pin holes. They did come back and put a sealer on it but now it is starting
to peel in places and get that pin hole look again. When I asked the owner of the company if this is how
it should look he said not really (they hired someone outside their company to do this project.)
I am unhappy and there is a 5 year warranty so I want them to stop putting "band aids" on the grouting and fix it.
Is this possible. What would my options be? I have 2 years left on the warranty and I want this to be right but
am I expecting too much?

Thank you!!!

Time's Ran Out

Grouting can make a tiling job or in your case ruin a 'powder room'. Reads as though the joint hasn't had a final rub through before the polishing stage of the glazed surface. Can and should be re grouted by removing the affected areas of grout, but is messy and can cause dust and after 3 years will no doubt be a different colour.

I attached 2 pictures. Not sure if you will be able to tell what I am talking about but appreciate you input!

It looks like quite a sanded grout.. and that will leave that type of surface if that what was used.. kind of a gritty texture..

The only way to get a smoother finish would be to use an un-sanded grout but this would mean removing what you have now.. i don't think it is a thinset issue.

Best to speak to your installer about this..

Also I asked the son of the owner the last time he was at my house if the grout should look like that and he said not really. If they knew that the person that put it in for them did not do it right they should have offered to fix it all before this. I think they thought if they could patch it and put sealer on it I would be happy. Not happy!
