Hi, I'm really sorry to pester you but I've been to Jewsons to buy the SPF tile adhesive and they don't know what I'm taking about. Is it a special adhesive or will Jewsons own tile adhesive be ok?

Also, we have decided to only tile the bottom half of the wall and paint the top half. Would you still use SPF, scrim and then paint over the scrim or would you use something lining paper first?

There is a window which we have plasterboarded up to, is there a metal thing you can use to square up around the window or do you square it up using filler?

:mad2: (This is you after all my questions!)

I hope this is it and I'll try not to hassle you anymore!

Hi Yvonne, sorry I was not in the office earlier.

SPF are the initials for Single Part Fexible. This means that it is a cement based powder adhesive that you mix with water. It is a generic term but most often used on this site for a BAL product called "Single Part Flexible " - funnily enough. Many manufacturers make a similar product Ardex have X7G for instance.

I apologies for not being more descriptive in my advice, looks like I made you look a little silly in Jewsons. Most tiles shops will have a single apart flexy adhesive of some sort though the most poular on this forum is BAL, not only because it is very good but also very widely available.

As for tiling half the wall and painting the rest, you would probably be better off getting in a professional "ames taper" in to cover the joins as if you are painting you need a top class finish to the plasterboard otherwise it will show through and not look very nice. You would be able to tile on top of the taping instead of doing the scrimming yourself. I am not a decorator so you may well get other advice regarding this from more experienced guys on here.

Good luck which ever way you go.
