spiking drinks with "date-rape" drugs has been going for some time in the UK. certainly since 1998 when I first started going out and drinking properly. a whole plot in Hollyoaks was dedicated to raising awareness of it about 4 years ago. some of the drugs the sicko's use are drugs intended for use on animals and will often lead to infertility for those who have been spiked.

dangerous business and still nobody has any idea how to stop it

So that's what is is then, Liz, the date-rape drug? Is it always the same stuff? Had heard of it, like you do on TV every now and then, but luckily, even in my practice, I had never come across it, perhaps Scarborough is still comparatively safe or maybe the hospitals get to know about it more. What an incredibly low thing to do. Decent men must speak up against this sort of thing amongst their peers... good grief...

Rohipnol is one of the main drugs used, because of it's fast side effects in humans. I'm not sure if the sicko's are using other drugs. I did hear about a drug that was being used as a date rape drug, but it was a veterinarian drug used for sterilising horses but I wasn't sure if it was the same drug that had been doing the rounds.

I think it's an utterly despicable act and it's deeply saddening that the police in South Wales, whom gooner's daughter and friend went to for help, were just ignored.

i know that its a fact Liz that sometimes people present to the police that may appear to be drunk on first seeing them, but it may not be the case!! i remember reading about a man in a service station that appeared like this and the Thames valley police locked him up, to find him dead in the cell later , the poor man had died of a brain hemorrhage. the police should know better being professionals

Sorry to hear about this Gooner. My sister was spiked quite a long time ago and her "mates" dumped her in the front garden at home. Some "m8s"...... But the hospital were brilliant and the Police really helpfull once my mum and dad had made a complaint. Hope they treat your daughter the same way and all is ok very soon.
