I’ve just laid 30sqm of tumbled unfilled travertine. I filled the pits with grout and the customer is really pleased. I now need to seal. However, there is a slight grout haze which is really annoying me. When I wipe the tile it goes, but of course it comes back again. I have been doing the room in sections and at one point I had one third of the room with freshly laid tiles, one third that had been grouted and washed down with water (shiny look), and one third that I had done the previous day i.e. grouted, washed down & hazy. The customer saw all three stages of the project and is overjoyed with the hazy look! Will it be ok to seal the hazy look? Or will the sealer react with the haze? Cheers Sean

was it a flexi grout.. could just be polymer residue .. still a haze but cannot be removed by simple cement grout haze remover.. needs to be able to break down polymer residue..

If i was you.. remove it..
Do you know what Dave, I forget if it was a flex grout. It was Kerakoll Eco 2-12 Jasmin. A horrible grout to use. It was just like I had gone down to the beach and brought back a bucket of wet sand. I mixed it to the letter and it was still thick. I also had to do it in stages because the company had not supplied enough grout. I had to wait 2 more days for it to be delivered!

I know I will get asked this question by the customer tomorrow..............How do we clean our Travertine floor? I have searched the web and found various sites contradicting eachother. Some say just use hot water, some say use any household cleaner, some say do not use any household cleaner, not acids etc etc. What is the right answer?

You can get proper after care cleaners.. clean water is fine but never use washing up liquid..etc..

LTP Wash wax is a good one.

Careful with that I had a supplier deliver Keracoll Fugabella grouts on a recent job and had 3 different bags with 3 different batch numbers! sent it back as it was anthracite and i wasn't gonna take chances with such a dark colour. Maybe Jasmin will not be so noticable if there is a shading difference
