hello all went to measure a job today the job was in a old victorian style house divided into large flats. there was a around 100m of travertine to do about 60m on the floors and about 40m in 2 bathrooms on the walls. now heres the dilema after id measured the floor i peeled the carpet back to see what the substrate was it turned out to be wood block flooring on a herringbone pattern and it seemed quiet solid so i said we may be able to board over it then when i peeled the carpet back in the hall a patch of the blocks were loose so i advised him to take them all up which he was reluctant about till i told him he could sell them and get a good price and it would give me a solid floor to work onto but when i got further down the hall a couple of the other rooms i had to go into i.e toilet and utility were floor boards level with the blocks so if we took the blocks up id have the thickness of the floorboards difference which will need boarding over or taking out and replacing with some 25mm plywood in its place still giving us a big difference. so im not sure what to do for the best i dont know wether to get some wood block bittuimen adhesive and stick the loose blocks back down and board over but dont really want to do that. any suggestions please thanks peter
