Hi guys!

Wonder if you can help me.

recently bought a house with the other half and we're doing the kitchen and hallway with some white octagon tiles from DTW Ceramics (don't know if I can post link)

need to know what is best adhesive for this and also best way to cut these tiles.

also how do I space these tiles as all spacers are "+" shaped, but theres only a 3 way area between tiles??

think they're ceramic but not sure?

thanks for help in advance

Matt

Hi,
What is the floor type you are tiling on to? This will best determine correct prep and type of adhesive.
As for the spacers simply put them in standing up leg first (so you will use 3 spacers for where the 3 tiles abutt)

300 will be plenty.
You will need to incorporate a movement joint in the tiling where the ply meets the concrete.
Did you put the ply down?
Is the ply and the concrete the same level?

Hi.

Yes I put ply down screwed every 6", it's pretty much level about 2mm different can I make this up in the adhesive? (concrete area is lower)

Why can I ask is ditra needed. I have been advised to get a wood adhesive (recommeneded for use on 15mm ply)

how do I make a movement joint or is it a product that I can buy?

thanks again for help

Ive laid plenty of floors with this problem and always used Ditra and I have never had one problem after 42 years in the trade I think I know what I am doing

I never said you didn't I'm just saying that Ditra isn't a substitute for an expansion joint. There is also the possibility of deflection across this joint, an expansion joint will help absorb this, Ditra won't.

Well all I can say, is you do it your way and I will do my way which has been tried and tested,I can see your point on expansion I would do it different in the joint was a lot longer but if its a small length say the width of the door then I would not worry to much sometimes you have leave the rule book at home
