Our slate floor is 10 years old. It was not sealed by tiler when it was laid and has given us big probs, ie sealer only lasts about 2 weeks and then we are back to a dull dirty floor. We have used lithofin slate sealer.
This week a cleaning company are coming to clean the slate back to its original state so we can start again.
What should we do after the floor is cleaned by this company?
How long should we leave it to dry before sealing?
What sealer should we use ? Should we put anything else on the floor to try and keep it looking well?
We have two very large dogs who live in the kitchen and do not help!
The area is 32sq m.

I assume this was a very bad thing to do. Should I use a satin polish after sealing? A big problem is the dogs in and out all the time, I think fine stones on their paws wears away the seal quite quickly.I really appreciate the advice. I was so desperate we considered digging the floor up and replacing it with ceramic tiles but it does look beautiful when it is clean.........for a while!
