hi peeps,
im just about to start on my first job,it in a kitchen splash back with 6x6 white tiles,with 3 walls.is the best place to start at the centre of the cooker hood?

Always start in the centre of the oven hood to get even cuts up the sides, same with a window.

thanks,wat about silconeing the edges,wat needs silconing?

Always us silicone where the tiles meet anything that could move...worktops, units etc.

Anything thats going the be painted then use decorators caulk, everything else use silicone. Most pro's use Dow Corning silicone, its fantastic.

Dow Corning silicone is good, but i prefer Mapei as you can get a silicone to match the grout.

before starting in the centre of the cooker hood lay your tiles the full length of the area you are tiling to ensure that you do not end up with really small cuts/large grout fill at the finishing tile. You may have to decide wether to centralise the centre of the tile or centralise the grout line between 2 tiles to get the best results. I hope this make sense.
