Get some strong carpet tape apply to the paint leave it a while and then rip it off if any paint comes off then remove it all.

If it's emulsion here a little trick to get it off

Buy a cheap tub of ready mixed adhesive as cheap as you can find it, apply the is to the painted wall with the flat side of a trowel leave it and hour and then a sharp scraper and watch it fall off the wall. If it doesn't come to easily leave it a little longer and try again. Makes a bit of mess but is quite easy to get it off
