hessian backed listellos

Is anybody else having trouble with hessian backed listellos, i get these with almost every tiling job, they either suck in or start bulging like loose teeth! press one little square and the next one moves, also tiling above is a pain as they compress with the weight, ive even tried pannel pinning the tiles above in the joint between the two to stop this,thinking of using rapid set on next job as they seen to take ages to set especially the little glass squares, aggh its so time consuming bring back solid listellos, any tips? thamks

Tip - tell your customers that you can't fit these as they are agains European regulations...

I don't have any tips I'm afraid- I've suffered the same problems as you and all I can do is constantly fiddle and faff until it gets there - nightmare...

You could tile up to listello/border height then either batten or strips of offcut tiles cut to same depth as your listello, then use a rapid set adhesive to fix the course above (using strips or battens for support) when the rapid set has set you can remove strips/batten and use the "dogs tooth" method of screeding the gap left and fixing your borders

if you can tile them at the end of the day or work round the room to that height and put the borders on,by the time you to them they will have set by the time you get back round if you are using rapid set
