Doing tiling for a friend , who has hardwall on walls with skim plaster, about 10 days old and dry, changed mind from ceramics to porcelian, tiles are 600x300 weighing 19.2kg and one shower head wall to be 305x305 10mm stone tiles fixing with keraflex adhesive with mapei primer g , is it suitable to use

I would have concerns about tile weights. The stone will weigh a lot more than the others.

If that is base coat and skim then 10 days isn't long enough.

Same here Dave, the weight does concern me too. How long before i tile over and i was thinking of putting up a hardie board up where the 305x305 tiles were going up about 4m2 but will have to wait for the base coat to dry.

Gypsum plaster must be thoroughly dry before tiling. New plasterwork consisting of undercoat and finish coat should have been completed at least 4 weeks before tiling is commenced. Tiles should never be fixed to plaster which is not dry throughout. Where drying is assisted by space heating or dehumidifying, care should be taken to ensure that the plaster is not just dry at the surface. The heater or dehumidifier must not be directed at the plasterwork.
It is important to understand that some gypsum plasters may appear dry on the surface whilst still containing moisture within.

the porcelian tiles are about 8.5mm and the stone ones about 10mm (Dark emperador marble)

Hi and welcome,find out the weights for the stone, but using hardie board would be good, adhesive is fine, where you going to use white

Hi All , spoke to tech at hardie boards , 6mm holds up to 100kg m2, providing fixed with adhesive and fixings. Also, does 10mm of gypsum base coat dries at 1mm a day. Brother had his bathroom done 8yrs ago , tiler from the tile shop, used Hardwall and primer and then tiled over with 600x300 porcelian few days later and has power shower still looking good. But must do to the book, dont want any comebacks

British Gypsum state that the backing coat should have a skim finish before tiling..
