As John says, do consider hiring a professional, but if you are set on doing it yourself then good luck.
I'm all for people having a go at their own work, but don't rely on advice and guidance on here to necessarily result in a professional finish. It will help you by all means, but a bad DIY job can massively devalue a property and cost more money (as can an incompetent trader!)
Ask away within the forum and I'm sure we can try and help with any questions you may have.
