Hi All,

I am going to be laying tiles down in my kitchen soon, they are black 600mm x 600mm, I bought them from B&Q (cheap as chips) just after Christmas.
I was wondering what type of tile cutter I would need & whether or not is worth buying one outright or hiring one? It isn't going to get much use other than for this job & the bathroom later on this year. I have previously used a angle grinder which I find good for shaped cuts but it is difficult to get a dead straight cut over a big tile.

Any input would be appreciated

Thanks

Hello & Welcome to the Tilers Forum

When buying a cutter if solely for that job and all ur cuts r straight u can buy a dry cutter doesnt have to be from B & Q

Rubi offer the Star range of cutters which are cheap and will last u if u decide to tile somthing else in the future

Buybrandedtools.com above offer these cutters and i believe it is free delivery to mainland UK

Personally if it was me i would buy a dry cutter if all my cuts were straight and not L shapes around doors etc

Worse case use your grinder around small cuts if needs be

Trying to cut tiles with a wet cutter from B & Q or an where else wil take u alot longer than a dry one.

All the best keep us posted

I have 4 corner pieces to cut, corrider opening out into main kitchen space & around the french door, everything else straight cuts. Put under floor heating down, leveling compound going on this weekend, then tiling on top.

Thanks for the heads up on the B&Q tiles, should of know at that price something was fishy! Read all the threads about them & think I will stick with them but use Seal Guard on them, finger crossed it won't turn into a complete cluster f*k!
