I just got a very good tiling job starting next Tuesday and I would appreciate any advice because the pressure is on to achieve absolute perfection with this one. 13 meters wall and floor honed & filled travertine, 400 X 600 tiles in an extremely posh bathroom. The guy who runs the company suggested lithofin as a sealant and another contact advised me to use white adhesive with travertine. My main concern is making the corner cut grout line identical to the rest--any suggestions with this? I do appreciate any advice! Definitely nervous about this one as a perfect job insures that I get tons of work with these folks.

What he is talking about is the expansion joint into the corner, the tile should be cut 6mm short of the internal wall and the other tile should be cut 6mm short of the other wall, this will leave a 2mm visual joint into the corner which can then be siliconed which makes the joint a proper expansion joint, this applies to tiles of 6mm thick, increase the cut to the thickness of other size tiles you are using. Grout is compessionable to a degree so you could grout the corners as well, Silicon is the best option. There is a lot of people who just butt the tiles together in the corner and think the Silicon is the expansion joint, not the case

I uploaded a few pics from the job if anyone is interested. This was the first time I used flexi ashesive on walls, what a mess that stuff is!! Anyone got any tips for mastering the technique and how to get a perfect consistency? I was tiling onto Wedi board, the last pic shows how much short I was! This was my first time working with such large tiles too, a few joints were a bit out--what's the key to a perfectly flat floor?? It wasn't a perfect job but the customer was happy with it.

Hi Mike...

Bathroom looks great mate, I'm in the process of using the same sort of travertine on my bathroom, 1st time working with it! I like the colour of the grout & Silicon you have used. Do you mind me asking what it was and where you got it from? Also can't see any in your pics but did you have any exteranl corners to deal with?

Martyn.
