how can we all save fuel in our everyday driving

walk short journeys --- instead of driving them
and cut-out unnecessary trips

Take off unnecessary items to reduce weight.
Correct inflation of tyres.
Drive sensibly, dont over rev and dont speed.

where I live a vehicle is a necessity not a luxury, so I've been trying all suggestions for years,,,,now just need the wife to abide by them:mad2:

But then you line the pockets of the big supermarkets. Are they likely to give any of their profits back into society? Highly unlikely.

Use gears to slow down not heavy braking. Take off roof-racks, ladders, keep windows closed. Also turn radio off, not really.

Using gears to slow down is not a good idea, it causes excess wear and tear, ( police trained drivers are taught not to do this, gears are for driving the vehicle, the brakes are for stopping.)
Easing off on the gas pedal early on approaching traffic lights that are on red, roundabouts etc, ( how many drivers do you see, race to the red traffic light, only to be first in the queue) ease off at 40mph and see how far you will get without any more gas.
