How many of you actually take a lunch? And for how long?

Most of us on here will be self-employed.

I've just been reading THIS about how advantageous taking a lunch (and actually taking time out during that lunch-period and not just rushing around trying to find a bite to eat) can actually be for your work.

So I wondered, how many of you actually take a lunch? And for how long?

And, do you find it does benefit your work and speed things up throughout the working day?

I just get stuck in to the work, rarely stop, maybe just a quick drink and off again.

Mine's probably broken up throughout the day to be fair with a few coffee's. I normally skip out breakfast too. Boot the computer up, and get swamped with emails for an hour, then have a brew, take some calls and return a couple, have a brew, back to emails, etc.

The BBC article seems to suggest that you can actually get more done if you dedicate time for lunch, but actually take time out and not rush to find food and rush back.

im sat at home having lunch now!! lol, i'm inbetween jobs, off to latex a floor at one, then back to grout the floor i tiled this morning..

allways have breakfast, lunch, stop for about half hour, sit in the van, eat my sarnies, read the paper, then back to it...

I sometimes work through but then i feel shattered at 4 and wanna go home !

I usually work straight through I'd rather get done and home plus if I do stop for a break I sometimes find it harder to get going again.

I very rarely stop for lunch. Just the odd few cuppa's here n there and work straight through. It does do good to stop and have a rest though.

i always stop for TEA at 10AM 1/2 hour, then at 1.pm for 1/2 dinner, then at 3pm tea 10 min's, it work's for me ,they say less hast more work ,and deffo no *** breaks, as i don't smoke, i think smokers generally take the Michael with there so called *** -breaks lol, RUN FOR COVER and hide under some empty addy bags lol

I'm about the same as you dave but hav lunch at 12.. Cos I start at about 8ish..

I like to stop for lunch for 1/2 to 3/4 hour. It clears my mind ready for a fresh start in the afternoon. Sometimes work through till 6 maybe 7 so you need to refuel at some point.

if im on a price job usualy i always get there early so i can have a quick coffee and a few pieces and maybe read the paper then get stuck in, i always find if i stop about 12,esh it usualy slows my day down but sometimes you need a break, if im gettin paid an hourly rate then 2 breaks are a must

Usually will take 20mins or half an hour, don't always stop for a tea break if I'm under pressure.

I find that if I work through my lunch, then by 2.30 I'm starving and exhausted and it slows down productivity more than it would have done if I stopped for 15 minutes to eat my sandwiches.

I take it easy on Saturdays at least 2hour dinners lmao!!!!! Only kiddin lee!!!

Might stop for ten mins to have a sarnie but brews are normally drank whilst working

I guess health and safety would come into this as well. I know that as a long distance driver I am required to take regular breaks and I wold guess that benign your hands and knees most f the day would be similar (in that if you do it for too long it is gonna hurt) I always try to take a lunch break but sometimes Dont manage it.

wow im amazed at how many work through.
i always stop for 20 min at 10 am, then 30min at 1 pm , then 10 min at 4pm . finish at 5pm. i find the 10min at 4 really helps give you a boost for that last hour so you can plan the next days work and make sure everything is right and ready.

have breakfast at 10 for 10-15 min. and lunch at 1, for 15 min. and coffe every 2 hours

I just like to get on with the job and very rarely stop for lunch and never have breakfast either. Coffee and cigs keep me going, not indoors though.
