Hello Again i have found that u r posting threads for individual questions think u will find it easier if you asked all in 1 thread but gud that u r asking wot it is all about.

Quoting is all about selling urself right. Making the customer feeL comfortable that u shall be the person who will transform his or her home into somthing remarkable.

For eg. If you came into my house for a quote to tile the kitchen splashback and looked to be measuring up told me how many sq mtrs of tiles i would need even though i wud prob know also asked me things like what colour grout i wanted what colour adhesive etc and.

Also coming on a little furter to the point take a portolfio of some previous tiling u may have done in that particular area for which u have gone to quote for. My partner has got a leather portfolio case which he shows to any customer also a cd with pics on it if customer requests. Inform the customer what shall be involved and approx how long it shall take etc.

Finally uasked how many quotes turn into jobs well my simple answer to that wud be all about how u sell ur self to the customer. All the best Raja

i understand it is all about selling yourself, have spent the last 12 years selling, but as a rough idea if you gave out 10 quotes how many do you think that you would actually get as a rough rule.

every one is different and u r asking a very open question but from personal experiance i wud say if i quotes 10 jobs wud usually secure between 4 to 6 if i am lucky

That all depends on how competitive you are.
But... Lets say out of the last 10 quotes i have given i have got 9 jobs.

i tend to know what chance i have of getting the job before i quote. It can all swing on where they got my name from. If it was a recomendation then i feel i get a head start.
I wouldnt call myself cheap but i tend to work long hours if needed to get the job done and can work fast when needed. This means that if i saw a bathroom i would estimate i could tile do in a day, i may drop the price a small amount from the price per m2 where as another tiler may see it as 2 days work and his price woould be based on 2 days wages.
It really is something that you need to do a few times before you get the feel of quoting .

8 out of 10 for me,I think I'm a good salesman. The other 2 I don't get they expect it done for less than half my price so don't have any idea really of what things cost.
I don't think I'll ever lose a quote because they think someone will do a better job,if they want it done cheaper they can happily go somewhere else.
