How much just to grout

Got to go out nad od a quote on a job. Guy has laid flor himself and admits it isn't great, roughly 25m squared. I'm figuring half days rate + mats? Would you guys agree or should it be less more? Can;t see it taking me anymore than half a day.

it depends on what colour grout, if it's dark it could take quite a few washes and if the weather's damp it could take ages to dry between washes

If it's a badly laid floor the grouting is'nt going to look good anyway, charge a day plus the any gear you need...

why would someone go to all the trouble to lay a floor themselfs and not grout it?.....seems a bit strange.....any how i would charge for a full day to.

I wouldn't go near it.
I'd not be happy to be attached to it.
That's just me though.

Full day plus mats (you buy the grout). You could turn up and he gives you a tub of ready mixed, or he gives you a bag that has been in his shed for 6 years!!

Been out to see it and its not the greatest floor by a long way! Few joints need cleaning but i'll be in and out in well under 4 hours. He admits its not the best laid floor and knows it can't b inmproved , he just wants it grouted as got a new baby and the tiling nearly killed him and he's had enough. I've said half day plus 1 bag grout, seems fair and i would have felt bad charging a full day as its not going to take long. Maybe i'm just a cheap date!

By helping at this stage you may get other work from him so the bigger picture may pay off.
You have gone in at a very fair price and I'am sure he will appreciate your efforts.

I wouldn't touch it , but seen as you are , then if you have no other job to do on the afternoon , then IMO it had to be day rate. You are of course using a full day that you could have done another job.
That is unless you are quiet and despo for work.

thats a good point, i hadn't thought of it that way. luckily i'm looking after the kids this week so hadn't arranged anything so its just a bit of extra i hadn't planned for. i'll make sure i think of it that way from now on. i
