Hi everyone.
I am new as you can palinly see, but not only new to the forum, I am also new to the whole DIY thing :). Anyways, I am trying to install ceramic tile in the bathroom floor. The job itself is not easy for someone like me, who has never done it before, but I seem to have a rather nasty problem. There is a huge pipe coming out of the floor, right next to the bath itself, where its most important to have a good waterproof isolation, so building close to it wont do (I think).

On the other hand, there is not enough space under it for the tiles and underlay and grout and all that. I am at a loss.

I have here a picture, not a very good quality, but should be enough to give an idea. If anyone knows any "easy" solution for this problem (i.e. not rebuild your bathroom :earmuffs:), then please tell me.

Don't worry btw. the pipes will be repainted xD.

Cheers everyone.

Hi Del W.

Thx for answering.

Thats a good thought actually :). Kinda ashamed I didnt think of it. But if I may ask, how hard would it be to break it off and rebox it, should there be a need to change the pipes or something. ( The house is generally not new and so you never know when you have to change a small thing if you know what I mean).

In other words, would it be enough to take out a few tiles, or would I have to do the whole floor from scratch?

(sry for the probably stupid question, but its all kinda hard to tell when you never done it before...)

Cheers.

Thanks all. Great forum.

At Bathfix Bob:

The thing about running it under floor would be that its too high, so when i put the plywood on top, it would uneven, and i cant just make the whole floor higher..

Or did I misunderstand you? (likely, as I am very unexperienced).
Anyways, I am pretty sure I will do the boxing in, as it looks pretty nice and is really quite easy, even for someone like me.

Cheers.
