How to turn 1 days work into 2.
I did a quote the other day for a lady that wanted 24 tiles plus a border replaced in her shower. She was on a tight budget (but then again everyone now says the same).

I just happened to pop into Topps to thank them for passing my card onto the customer. They remembered her and said that she was looking at the most expensive border tiles in the shop.

So, I changed my quote to 2 quotes. The first quote was for the budget option, and the 2nd was for a full retile. (explaining to the customer all the benefits etc).

She has just come back to me and has gone for the full retile. An extra days pay will come in handy to pay for the car that was serviced yesterday.

Sometimes people do ask for different quotes for the same job i.e.
Full retile.
Half tile.
Ceramic tile.
Natural stone.
With/without ufh.

These types of quote take ages to construct, and the customers who ask for these quotes never come back to me!

Cheers
Sean

good post sean:thumbsup: and oh so true, its happening a lot just now with customers stating there on budgets..the way i have dealt with this so far is once they tell me or hint about themselves having budgets etc etc i offer them a very good trade discount on there tiles which in itself may 1.win me the job and still i can get my labour price with out dropping and 2.you end up working with good quality tiles as youhave given them such a hefty discount so i find at the mo its a winning combination

it happended alot for me when i used to go out and quote if the customer was on a tight budget then id offer different solutions like halftiled etc and usually turns into a winner

This is how i got my first job this year, the customer had a new shower fitted and they were not like for like so some tiles were short and she wanted me to sort the slithers....in the end i got a retile job out of it
